PRESENTATION TOPIC:

Balint Group Process is named after Michael and Enid Balint, a psychoanalyst and a social worker who started facilitating these provider consultation groups at Tavistock Clinic in London for physicians after the Second World War.

This reflective consultation group process enhances understanding of the healing potential of therapeutic relationships while providing a forum for clinical case presentations and consultations.

Balint Group Process uses the power of group process to allow less-conscious aspects of our work with patients to emerge. It provides experiential learning for providers seeking case consultation and support while offering a nourishing antidote to the isolation, burnout and moral distress in psychological care today.

Join us for our 50th Anniversary Celebration!

The Redwood Psychological Association is turning 50! You’re invited to join your RPA colleagues to celebrate this organizational milestone with a luncheon, recognitions, presentation of awards, and an RPA history lesson!

We invite you to bring pictures and milestone events to add to a visual display of RPA’s history, as well as stories and memories to share with the group.

Here’s the agenda for the day:

10:30 - 11:15 AM – Arrive, grab a name tag, mingle with colleagues while sipping some coffee, enjoying fruits and veggies, and add to the RPA History Timeline.

11:15 AM - 12:00 PM – Find a seat as President Jennifer Lotz and Treasurer Sandy Peace help you put a face to the names you’ve been seeing on the Listserv, recognize past Board and committee members, remember colleagues who have passed, and open up the floor for sharing anecdotes from RPA’s history.

12:00 -12:45 PM – Enjoy a buffet luncheon catered by Apple Spice Box featuring your favorite breakfast foods and a salad bar.

12:45 -1:15 PM – Join the RPA Board in honoring your colleagues for their contributions to the success and longevity of RPA!

1:15-2:00 PM – Mingle

Join us for our Member Spotlight Series, featuring An EMDR Therapy Overview with Dr. Andrew Leeds

PRESENTATION TOPIC:

This 90-minute interactive workshop offers an integrative, clinically focused overview of EMDR Therapy as a transdiagnostic intervention grounded in the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model. It will highlight the evidence base for EMDR Therapy across PTSD and other stress-related and comorbid conditions and will cover individual, group, and remote delivery formats.

Participants will discover how pathogenic memory networks contribute to diverse symptom presentations and how these are quickly resolved with EMDR Therapy. By the end of this introductory workshop, participants will be able to:

Summarize the evidence supporting EMDR as a first-line, cost-effective trauma-focused treatment.
Describe the AIP model and its transdiagnostic implications.
Compare key clinical considerations in individual, group, and telehealth EMDR.
Apply a structured framework for choosing adjunctive EMDR referral versus transfer of care in more complex presentations.
