North Bay Wildfires: An open letter from our President
I’m writing on behalf of the board to connect with you all in this heartbreaking and for many devastating time. We send our thoughts and prayers to all those affected in our organization and our community. We also want to share deep gratitude to the first responders and all of those supporting, volunteering and helping one another.
Our hope on the board is that we can assist in leading and organizing our support and response as an association. This process of recovery will take some time but we wanted to identify a few immediate concerns in this email.
1) If there are any RPA members that need immediate help due to lost property or displacement, we would like to offer to organize both personal and professional support. If there is anyone that needs this or knows of someone that needs this, please let us know and we would like to offer and organize appropriate assistance.
2) Members who are aware of important emergency information, needs and volunteer opportunities are invited to share with the listserv so that we can have a centralized place to be aware of and exchange information. Non-members can send a request to admin@RPApsych.org to request crisis support information via our listserv.
3) Members who have resources for clinical work and care of clients are invited to share with the listserv. Thank you to those who have already done so.
4) The CE event originally scheduled for 10/12/17 will be rescheduled for Spring, 2018. A follow-up email will be sent with details.
Already I see the evidence of support and care in our RPA community as I write this. May we be well and in community during this difficult time.
