Inclusivity Statement

The Redwood Psychological Association is committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all individuals, regardless of their background or characteristics.  As an organization, we believe everyone should be treated equally and with care and respect.  We are committed to ensuring that our policies and practices reflect this value.  All are welcome here.

Members of the RPA Community strive to:

  1. Recognize and understand the effects of discrimination and bias in all aspects of professional activities as an ongoing process.
  2. Strive for awareness of their own positions of power and privilege.
  3. Engage in reflective practice by exploring how their worldviews and positionalities may affect the quality and range of psychological services they provide.
  4. Promote health and well-being by challenging negative biases that perpetuate oppression in practice settings, systems, and methods.

The Redwood Psychological Association supports and is committed to the ethical practice of psychology and expects our members to follow the American Psychological Association’s (APA) Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct.

We believe the ethical practice of psychology inherently includes respecting and upholding the inalienable rights of all humans.  As psychologists, we commit to the following put forth by the APA resolution on psychology and human rights:

  • Psychologists possess human rights by virtue of being human as well as specific rights essential to their profession and discipline;
  • Psychologists apply their knowledge and methods to the greater realization of human rights;
  • Psychologists respect human rights and oppose the misuse of psychological science, practice, and applications and their negative impact on human rights;
  • Psychologists advance equal access to the benefits of psychological science and practice; and,
  • Psychologists advocate for human rights.
